The company highlighted that iOS 9 had an adoption rate of 12% in less than 24 hours after being released, which is faster than the growth of iOS 8, says CEO of Mixpanel, Suhail Doshi. Twice as fast, to be exact. One can legitimately think that this success is partly due to a beta version released upstream of the final version, prompting users to upgrade to iOS 9 for its latest features.

As you can imagine, the iOS adoption rate is much higher than the rate of adoption of Windows or Android, and 12% represent millions of iPhone and iPad users. All the most popular devices are compatible with Apple iOS 9, so it takes less time for users to update their devices to the new version of iOS, as their counterparts on Android or Windows. For Google and Microsoft, it is a challenge to encourage manufacturers to push the updates to their devices in time, so the delay is understandable but irritating.

Here is where the adoption to date:

A download at the right size
9 You will notice that iOS has already passed the bar "Older iOS 8" in the installation figures, and now tends to catch iOS 8. One thing that might help with the adoption of iOS is its 9 download size, which is smaller than 3.5 GB required for iOS 8.

Remember, iOS 9 brings new features for smartphones and tablets, such as a new search panel, an update to Siri, the addition of public transport in Maps, multitasking features to the iPad, an improvement of security, and management of the battery. News, Wallet, Drive and iCloud Notes are updated applications, and new features for the keyboard complement this new version of the OS. However, Apple has reduced the size of the update over-the-air three quarters, which is not negligible.
